Why should I choose 7th Floor over other cheaper online mixing/mastering services?
1
What makes your work different?
2
Our experience and workflow system allows us to get great results quickly, which means we can afford to spend that saved time on details that are often overlooked.
How do I know if my track is a good fit for you?
3
Style is generally not a problem. If you feel the track is ready, we can work with it. If it still needs development, that can be addressed too. The stage it’s at just determines how we approach it. We’ll always do our best with what you give us.
When is stereo mastering enough vs when are stems needed?
4
Stereo mastering is enough when the mix is already well balanced and controlled. Stems are useful when specific elements (like low end, vocals, or harshness) need adjustment that can’t be done cleanly in stereo.
How long should I expect things to take realistically?
5
Turnaround depends on current workload. As a guide, mastering is usually around one to two weeks, and mixing around two to three. The work itself is often quicker, but scheduling is based on ongoing projects.
How involved can I be in the process?
6
As involved as you want to be. Some clients prefer a quick turnaround with minimal input, others want to refine details more closely. The process adapts to that, with more involved projects naturally taking more time.
Can I attend sessions or is everything remote?
7
Most projects are handled remotely, but attended sessions can be arranged if needed.
8
Do you work analog, digital, or hybrid?
Mostly in the box, using a wide range of top-tier tools for precision and flexibility. There is also a high-end analog vocal chain (including a Neve 1073, 1176, and LA-2A), primarily used at the recording stage.
What monitoring environment are you working in?
9
The monitoring is built around accuracy and translation, in a treated room, with ProAc speakers and mastering-grade Class-D Hypex amplification, ensuring mixes translate properly across systems.
